    Organisation Committee

    Carlos Fernandes is an associate professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal.  He obtained his Ph.D. at Bournemouth University (UK). His interests include tourism as a strategy for rural development, cultural and creative tourism and destination management. Carlos has presented papers in national and international conferences and has a substantial number of publications in his area of interest.

     

    Ana Paula Vale, lecturer and researcher at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, holds a BSc degree in Biology from the University of Porto, MSc in Plant Nutrition, Soil Fertility and Fertilization by the Technical University of Lisbon and MSc in Science and Technology in Agro-Food Industry – specialization in Food safety by the University of Vigo and is currently a PhD candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences – Nutrition and Food Chemistry at the University of Porto.

     

    Alexandra Correia is a lecturer at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo. She will complete her PH.D in 2012, entitled “A critical analysis of the perceived factors influencing the decision to whether cooperate or not, from a tourism and wine businesses’ perspective in the Douro Region, Portugal”.

     

     


    Goretti Silva
    is a lecturer at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo. She  obtained her PH.D from Bournemouth University (UK) on understanding the role of social capital in the creation and management of tourism related small family businesses in rural areas. She has also coordinated students´ tourism development and investment final projects in cooperation with local entrepreneurs and public organisations.

     

     

    Olga Matos is an associate professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal. She obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Coimbra. Her interests include Cultural Heritage, Interpretation and Management of Archaeological Sites and Monuments. Olga has presented papers in national and international conferences, served as member of scientific committees for conferences and seminars and has an important number of publications in her area of interest.

     

     

    Helena Santos Rodrigues is an associate professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal.  She holds a Ph.D. from Vigo University (Spain). Helena is Course Leader of the Master in Organisations Management. Helena´s interests include intellectual capital and innovativeness as a competitive advantage to firm’s performance and marketing management. In the last few years, she has conducted research and/or consultancy within various special interest areas, including intellectual capital, manager innovative profile, and innovativeness.

     

     

    Pedro Moreira is an associate professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computers Engineering at the University of Porto in 2009. His interests include Multimedia, Computer Graphics, Serious Games, Virtual and Augmented Reality and  Information and Communication Technologies in Society. Pedro organized several scientific events and served as a program committee and reviewer for many conferences and workshops. He also serves in the scientific committee of the Iberian Journal of Information Systems and Technologies (RISTI).

     

    Bárbara Nogueira is a third year tourism undergraduate student at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo. She completed a placement with a hotel chain in Spain last year. Since then she has been active in events organization, including conferences and exhibitions.
