    Please submit an abstract of no more than 200 words by 15th December 2012 15th January 2013 to gianpaolo.vignali@manchester.ac.uk Authors will receive abstract acceptance notice by 15th January 2013 – at the latest. Full papers should be submitted by 15th February 2013. Author Registration and payment is due to 1st March 2013.  

    Keynote Speakers

    Keynote speaker on Wednesday, 3rd of April Praveen Gupta is a Director of Center for Innovation Science and Applications at IIT School of Applied Technology. He has also taught Innovations for Engineers course at University of Illinois, Chicago. His innovation curriculum is taught at multiple institutions in the U.S. and Mexico. Praveen is President of Accelper Consulting for providing assistance in sustaining profitable growth to corporations. Praveen has authored many books including Business Innovation in the 21st Century, The Innovation Solution, Six Sigma Business Scorecard, Service Scorecard, Stat Free Six Sigma, and the Six Sigma Performance Handbook. He is the founding Editor of the International Journal of Innovation Science, Chair of Business Innovation Conference, and lead developer of the Business Innovation certification program offered in collaboration with Illinois Institute of Technology.   Keynote speaker on Wednesday, 3rd of April Greg Richards is Professor of Leisure Studies at Tilburg University in the Netherlands. He has recently been a member of the Palmer/Rae team evaluating the impact of the European Cities of Culture for the European Commission, a contributor to the European Travel Commission study of City Tourism and Culture and an adviser on the development of national cultural tourism policy in Austria. He is also directing the ongoing ATLAS Cultural Tourism Research, gathering data on cultural tourism consumption in 20 countries. Recent projects include an assessment of a major event to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the birth of the painter Hieronymus Bosch, the evaluations of the European Capitals of Culture in Luxemburg (2007) and Sibiu (2007) as well as advising on the final report for the Cultural Capital in Stavanger (2008).   Keynote speaker on Thursday, 4th of April Alan Clarke is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Pannonia, in Hungary. He arrived in Hungary in 2005 after a career in UK Higher Education – working at the Open University programmes by distance learning. He has undertaken research and consultancy projects for the public and private sectors in leisure and tourism in Europe, the Caribbean, India and Asia, and has contributed to three major European projects. Alan has successfully supervised 25 PhD students and 4 MPhil students. He has published over 50 articles and his most recent book on International Hospitality Management (with Wei Chen) is still proving popular. Alan’s current research interests focus on governance, policy and development issues, especially in the areas of culture and sports..   Keynote speaker on Friday, 5th of April Sofia Almeida is the Marketing and Sales Director at ARTEH® – Hotels & Resorts,   a World renowned and sought after Soft Brand Hotel Chain, dedicated to Marketing, Promotion and e-Distribution. Distinguished by the richness of their History, the beauty of their Surroundings, the character of their Architecture, the style of their Decor, the comfort of their Rooms or the care for their Guests, the ARTEH® – Hotels and Resorts are a Must in the Hospitality Industry. Sofia is currently a candidate for a PhD at the University of Lisbon. She has also conducted training for various companies related to the Hospitality sector and represented ARTEH-Hotels & Resorts at various seminars and forums in the Hospitality sector.

    Local producers bring their products for us to taste—from delicious food specialties and the uniqueness of the vinho verde to showcooking. An experience you do not want to miss!

    (No dinner has been organised for tonight, there are a wide selection of restaurants in Viana do Castelo. Please ask the organizing team if you would like any information. However, you may not be hungry after tasting the local culture!)

    Bacalhau is Portugal´s favourite food. The Portuguese say there are 1001 ways of cooking bacalhau. Today, it will also be your favourite!

      Friday, 5th of April 2013 [Venue : School of Technology and Management]

    Stroll along the traditional outdoor market, just past the castle walls and the fishing docks, on the way to the School of Technology and Management (the venue for this day).

    If you rather not walk, a transfer will be available between 8H30 and 8h45 from the official hotels of the conference – you should be outside the hotel by 8h30.
